The number of pharmaceutical firms with good manufacturing practice (GMP) endorsement totaled 229 as of July 2006, according to Yakup Shinmoon.

By industry, companies manufacturing finished pharmaceuticals, bulk materials and quasi drugs (e.g., hair dye, insecticide, and toothpaste) numbered 237, 351 and 212, respectively.
