Sky-rocketed drug prices

If Korea accepts the request of United States to extend a three-year increase of drug patents in Korea, which means U.S. drug companies would have more time to monopolize the domestic drug market with their new medicines, it will undermine or weaken the competitiveness of the domestic pharmaceutical industry, said Park In-choon, a director of the Korea Pharmaceutical Association.
