Novartis turns up merger heat on rival Roche
Basel-based Novartis revealed on January 23 that it had spent $2.1 billion (11.4% voting stake) to lift its voting stake in Roche Holding AG to 32.7 percent, following Novartis's 21.3% stake at the end of 2001.
