Korea expected to become aged society in 2019

According to population data of the recently published "2002 Health and Welfare Statistics, Korean's average life expectancy in 2005 will rise to 77.7 years from 63.7 in 1980. A woman' life expectancy will rise to 81.2 years, outpacing men's by 6.8 years.

Analysts say the government should urgently adopt a stable welfare policy for elderly people to cope with problems of aging society.
