Korean drugmakers’ R&D spending falls slightly in 1Q

Korea’s 53 listed pharmaceutical companies saw their combined research and development (R&D) spending drop by 7.4 percent to 185.3 billion won, down 0.2 percent points from 7.6 percent a year ago, an online pharmaceutical information provider said yesterday, pointing to their lack of willingness to invest after the government’s selection of 43 innovative drug firms last year.
