Expanded bar code for prescription drug to be made compulsory from 2013

Expanded bar code (GS1-128) or radio tags should be placed on both the immediate containers and outer packages of all prescription drugs sold here from next year, the government said Tuesday, in order to create a tracking system that enables better inventory control and a reduction in prescription errors.
