New hepatitis B drug to be released from December
Gilead Sciences’ Viread (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) will be launched from December 1, according to Yuhan Corp., a local exclusive distributor.
Viread is indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B in adults. The drug is administered as a once-daily tablet, and works by blocking HBV DNA polymerase, the enzyme that is necessary for the virus to replicate in liver cells.
