Multinational firms start layoff programs

Sanofi Aventis Korea and GlaxoSmithKline are restructuring theirs workforce through a voluntary retirement program in an effort to cope with sluggish sales here due to the government-mandated cuts in drug prices in April.

The foreign-invested pharmaceutical firms said Friday that they will accept applications from employees for the voluntary retirement program by the deadline.
