National Assembly passes bill to permit supermarket drug sales

The outgoing National Assembly passed the contentious bill aimed at permitting the sale of certain drugs at 24-hour convenient stores that could make it easier for people to buy medicine without going to pharmacies, along with about 60 other proposals during its last plenary session late Wednesday.

Of the 151 attending lawmakers, 121 approved the bill while 12 were opposed and 18 abstained.
