100 billion won offered as drug rebates over 5 years

Korean drug makers have been discovered to offer nearly 100 billion won in rebates between 2006 and 2010, an antitrust regulator said Sunday.

In 2011 alone, 17 local and multinational firms were ordered to pay 14.3 billion won in fines for offering nearly 97 billion won in illegal rebates to over 8,000 doctors and pharmacists from 2006-2010, according to the Fair Trade Commission (FTC).
