292 bioequivalence tests approved by KFDA in 2011

The Korea Food and Drug Administration said Monday it approved a total of 292 bioequivalence tests last year, down 25 percent from 388 bioequivalence tests in 2010 due to decrease in the number of re-examination or off-patent drugs.
Demonstrating the bioequivalence of different drugs requires proof of therapeutic equivalence, which justifies the substitution of one product for another.
