CJ files suit to nullify Viagra patent
CJ Cheiljedang Corp. said yesterday that it filed a lawsuit against US drug giant Pfizer's utility patent rights for Viagra, preserving Pfizer's market exclusivity on the drug into May 14, 2014.
The 2014 patent covers the use of Viagra's active ingredient, sildenafil, to treat erectile dysfunction. An earlier patent, covering the basic compound, is due to expire next year.
