Concerns growing over use of more potent antibiotics

A health scare is growing here after Japan confirmed last month its first case of a “super bacterium” that is resistant to nearly all known antibiotics.

The news came as a surprise after the more common drug-resistant bacteria Acinetobacter infected 46 patients and killed nine in a Japanese hospital over the past year.
