Propofol designated as psychotropic drug

The Korea Food and Drug Administration announced on August 26 that it designated propofol, a powerful anesthetic as a hallucinogen, as one of psychotropic drugs so as to lay the legal groundwork for prevention of its overuse or misuse.

The measure came after the KFDA’s Central Pharmaceutical Deliberation Committee discussed the drug dependence and medical condition here.
