Sales of weight loss pill sibutramine unlikely to be banned

The controversial anti-obesity drug sibutramine will not be banned in Korea, reports said.

In a recent forum, the Korea Food and Drug Administration Director Yoo Moo-young said that the drug agency’s review showed the higher heart risks extended only to patients with a history of cardiovascular disease.

He advised patients to discuss with their doctors if continued use was appropriate.
