Bioequivalence testing of combination products to be made compulsory from 2012

The bioequivalence testing of combined generic medications is expected to be mandatory from 2012 by phases in a bid to ensure their safety and efficacy over original medications, according to the Korea Food and Drug Administration.

Under the plan, the testing will be applicable to frequently prescribed combination drugs as well as drugs with higher incidence of adverse reactions.
