Health watchdog to restrict use of similar tradename over renewal product

The Korea Food and Drug Administration says it will not allow drugmakers to use any brand name by adding letter(s), word(s) or figure(s) to the already licensed medicine, citing a case that it rejected the use of Huon’s Salsalazine, a popular herbal medicine for treatment of obesity, to its dose-escalating renewal drug (237.5 mg to 475 mg).
